SettingInsurrectionists have begun operations on the outer colony of Desdoron. This includes assassinations, ambushes, and insurgency. It is on the outskirts of the colony's capital that we find Dieter, who has been supporting his Insurrectionist allies in weakening the local UNSC presence.

Dieter slowly squeezed the trigger back, his sights set on the driver of the warthog, which now lay inert. As the shot rang out, the round's casing was released, and with it, Dieter finally exhaled, though keeping his eye on the remainder of the vehicle's crew. Before Dieter had the chance to line up another shot, they all had run off in different directions, each a blind spot for the marksman. Dieter then took this moment to look around, he was in a rather large building, for the area, at least. Twelve stories, with Dieter on the fifth. He lay on his stomach, aiming out of a small hole in the wall that he had blown open with a shaped charge. Under his breath he muttered, "Good shit, Jay, we got him...". It was just loud enough for himself to hear through the, now mild, ringing of his ears. Dieter had been in this spot for a while now, should he relocate? Definitely. After a short breather, that is. He sat up, twisting his body around and leaning against the wall, he held his rifle beside him. He sighed.

Yuri liked to be proved right, so the current situation was doubly nice. He was right that the enemy sniper would aim west during the afternoon, to avoid any unfortunate glare off of his rifle scope. And he was right that the first person he would shoot would be the driver for maximum effect. Thanks to a quick card game and prisoner transfer, a rebel was dead and UNSC didn't even have to waste a bullet! Now he had the unenviable goal of getting his squad to the building in question to deal with the sniper. He managed to get his squad to the base of the structure without anymore issue, but this would be the hardest part.

"Five heat sigs incoming, seventy-six degrees East-Northeast." Jay spoke softly to Dieter within the confines of his helmet, "They're thirty-eight meters out at ground level." Dieter was on his feet quickly, being careful to avoid any unnecessary noise. He had rigged the building with several charges, all of which would be triggered by any unusual heat signature in their vicinity. The explosions they produced were relatively small, though they sent deadly chemical compound flying, ignited by the initial explosion, it burns three times as hot as thermite. Such weapons were banned long ago by the UNSC, and only the Insurrectionists and their allies would dare use them. Dieter shouldered his rifle, ready to move on the squad. "Can we take them?" He asks his companion, Jay. "I...am unsure. One of them appears to be very unusually armed, or rather, armored." The AI would reply, worry in his voice. "Probability?" After a brief pause, Jay replied once more, "Sixty-eight percent." Dieter swore under his breath, and began looking around the building, planning his escape.

"Dat der be a Heat trigger boass man" said Yuri's tech savvy Corporal Cletus, "it'll go off if they de-tect any un ersuAL heat signatures". "bozhe moi" Yuri whispered under his breath, he leaned his head on his shield and tried to think of a solution. "WAIT" he exclaimed in epiphany, "but what if it does not readings any heat at all?". Cletus replied, " I reckon it wont do nuttin, theys set fer heat, not the lack of it". And with that, Yuri's plan was set. His shield, taken from the lining of a reactor off of a UNSC ship, wouldn't show heat to the censors of the bombs due to it's makeup, allowing him to block it's ability to go off until he was close enough for Cletus to disarm them. "You want me to keep these fer later?" Cletus asked. "No, make sure they are completely inert before moving on, we cannot deal with such poison in close quarters" Yuri replied. They made good time, and had just made it to the fifth floor when something stirred that made them pause.

Dieter kneel facing the wall, his rifle aimed at it, as well. On the other side were the stairs, the only stairs. He heard the squad working their way up, and waited for Jay's word. After several very, very lengthy seconds, Jay spoke one word, "Mark." On that signal, Dieter pulled the trigger, firing at the wall, his rifle's heavy round traveling through it and striking the hand of one Corporal Cletus, taking his four fingers off at their base. Dieter fired four more rounds off in rapid secession, hoping to get lucky. While two missed, the other two ricocheted off the shield of the squad's leader, one of them then landing itself in the knee of the very same Corporal. As Dieter fired off the last shot, he spun around, swiftly making way to a window and taking a moment to hang from it, dropping down to the roof of a neighboring building, turning to flee.

Suddenly the world exploded and Yuri saw Cletus go down and someone run and jump out of a window. "Andrew with me, the rest of you make sure Cletus is OK and secure the building". Running to the window he sees the target running along the roofs of some shorter buildings. "cover me from here!" he yelled, as he jumped down to catch up with the bastard who might have taken Cletus's life.

Dieter ran as fast as he could, moving from rooftop to rooftop, Jay directing him all the while. He had his rifle in hand, and no ammo in the magazine. Suddenly, there was a drop-off to the roof of a building only one-story in height. Dieter, however, did not slow down, leaping off of the roof, he landed with a thud, rolling as he hit the ground. He was back on his feet rather quickly, reloading a fresh magazine as he stood up, he moved into the building he had just leaped off of, looking out to the roof, waiting for his pursuer.
