RACE INFORMATION SHEET
Name: Coalition Military Conglomerate
Alliances: None (although they are an alliance of sorts themselves)
Technological Achievement Tier: Very early 3 (only there at all due to having slipspace transportation), however the technology behind this mainly falls into tier 5, as they use nuclear fission for all of their power, and do not have any of the other hallmarks of the tier.
Homeworld: Previously Kepler-138-C, now no central homeworld, instead traveling in a roaming fleet of refitted transports.
Appearance: Human. Mainly uses green as their colouration, with white for trims. The exceptions are commanders/commandos, who use black & grey, and inflitrators, who use orange & black.
Culture: Almost entirely military centered. Rely on mass-cloning to produce ideal base soldiers. Commanders are permitted to breed normally, as are infiltrators. Otherwise, cloning only (excepting the situations that result in commandos). The cloned standard soldiers have a lifespan of only 4 years, reaching maturity in 2.
Military Classing/Ranks: No traditional ranks. Instead, the position of soldiers is based on how well they react to the combat drugs & hormones they are all given during development. Commanders are genetically engineered to fit their role. Commandos are the result of a commander having a child with a regular soldier.
From left to right: Light (usually female due to weaker response to combat drugs, but equipped with a potent jetpack for mobility), Medium (gender varies, this is the standard response to the combat drugs, jump pack, but no jetpack), Heavy (the most powerful response to the drugs, more often male, no jump pack or jet pack), Commander (highly skilled and dangerous, jump pack, expanded vision reaching into infrared and ultraviolet spectrums, result of heavy genetic engineering, can't produce fertile offspring with regular humans due to the extent of the modifications). Commando, highly skilled and dangerous, the result of breeding between a commander and a regular soldier. More mobile than a light, and with an extremely powerful version of the jump pack. Spec Ops / Infiltration Drone, the infiltrators & scouts of the CMC, and the drones they use to do their work. No jump/jet pack, but can scale walls with relative ease, and have drones linked to brain implants, allowing them to directly control their drones as they themselves act.
History: Some time in the early 2150s, several corporations funded the construction and deployment of a vast generation ship, designed to carry its inhabitants over the course of almost a thousand years to a habitable exoplanet. The vessel, named the Prospector, was fitted with a set of thousands of gigantic, ultra-efficient solar sails, used to change speed at incredible rates. These were intended to allow the vessel to slow down from the insane speed it was supposed to reach, roughly 65% lightspeed. However, the ship was thrown off course by these same sails when a supernova occurred, pushing the ship into the Kepler-138 system. It had been severely damaged by the nova, a condition not assisted by the war brewing within. The representatives of the different corporations had been undergoing political turmoil for the 200 years for which their trip had gone. The colonists aboard the ship ended up settling on and terraforming Kepler-138-C, with an uneasy peace formed out of necessity. This peace collapsed after only 3 years of terraforming, with the planet just habitable. The corporations descended into an all-out war for 97 years. This pushed their technological development further towards military & medical interests. With the 100th anniversary of their accidental landing came peace, when the corporations were united under a single banner - the Coalition Military Conglomerate, or CMC. From here, it took roughly 3 years for the development of their slipspace drive - a device that forced the vessel through random rips torn in reality, requiring the vessel to be moving at high speed to function. While not as safe as those used by other races, and unable to be used at low speeds, it takes significantly less power, and can be run from the same enriched uranium used to power their fission reactors.
Offensive Technology/Weapons:
The main firearm used by the CMC troops is the Blast Rifle, a weapon that rapidly fires fast-moving, low damage energy bursts that can travel upwards of 25m. These produce a surprising amount of force, although they don't do much actual harm, and instead rely on damaging flesh and organs beneath the armour. The power cells can last for hundreds of shots, although the weapon itself tends to overheat fairly easily, so users must manage their fire rate carefully.
Their second most common firearm is the Kinetic Burst Launcher, a form of shotgun-type weapon that fires dozens of the bursts used by the blast rifle, and can be extremely potent in close range. However, it requires a fresh cell after each shot, and the bursts from this weapon dissipate after less than 7.5m.
Used by their commandos is a specialised long-range carbine, that fires single bursts of energy much like those used by the other weapons in their arsenal. However, the bursts from this particular weapon are incredibly long range, and highly potent, measuring up to a .75 caliber sniper rifle in terms of raw power & armour penetration. This needs a fresh cell after each shot, although it is completely silent.
They also have a Blast Pistol, basically a short-range, slightly higher damage, lower fire rate form of the Blast Rifle.
Defensive Technology/Armor: The CMC has several sets of armour, with the basic troops ranging from marine-level armour (lights), to ODST level armour (mediums), to SPARTAN level armour (heavies).
Additionally, the commanders use armour with similar damage resistance to the heavies, but considerably lighter, and far more costly.
Commandos use ultra-light armour allowing for incredible mobility with similar damage resistance to the armour used by mediums.
Infiltrators use armour lighter than any of the other sets, with no more damage resistance than a light, but far more mobility, and completely silent in movement, as well as rudimentary reactive camouflage similar to the active camouflage used by the Covenant, however considerably less sophisticated, and only functional when completely motionless. They do possess incredible capabilities for hacking into advanced systems via a physical connection from their drones, even to the point of being able to cripple an entire ship if they can get a drone into the bridge.
Vehicles:
Two main vehicles, the SOLR (Sub-Orbital Light Rocket), a lightweight but weak troop transport that brings single units to the field, and the AIV (Armoured Insertion Vehicle), a tough dropship designed to withstand heavy fire, bringing several units to the field at a time, as well as containing a mobile armoury, and a cell re-enrichment chamber to refuel power cells.
Vessels: Only two.
The CMC Lancer, their main fighter / transport, equipped with a form of front-focused energy shield used to 'push' other ships out of the way but minimal shielding otherwise, and a retrofitted form of their transports from the Prospector, weaker armour, but with greater all-around shielding, and greater troop capacity. All vessels are fitted with mass-cloning bays designed to produce hundreds of CMC troops in a short timespan.
