N/A
Appearance: Xia-yu has a surprisingly well maintained face despite her career. Clear of any blemishes, scars or any wounds what so ever she often looks to be unnaturally beautiful which is due to the circumstances behind her current status. Her long hair is utterly synthetic hence the odd, and unnaturally occurring, white colour at least it's unnaturally occurring for young people of her apparent physical age. On the subject of synthetic materials 60% of Xia-yu's body is synthetic as organs, eyes, skin and numerous muscles have had to be either removed and replaced with mechanical parts or had machinary added to them to repair the severe trauma she's sustained. To make it obvious if she hadn't been mechanically augmented Xia-yu would be dead. Continuing on things regarding her head Xia-yu's eyes are, you guessed it, fully mechanical having been replaced not to preserve her sight but to simply make her a better soldier functioning as binoculars with a little assistance from her on board A.I.
Moving on from her face/head onto her actual body it's....to put it simply a total mess. Her skin has been forcibly replaced with a synthetic substance that looks like skin, to a certain degree, and is in fact much better at heat retention than a normal human's skin of course it isn't perfect. Her synthetic skin is often prone to numerous issues such as being much more flammable than human skin. As for the skin's texture it feels smooth, soft and almost plastic like but visually it is very hard to tell the difference. Her body is lithe, toned and visibly muscular that is if she were to ever removed her suit and sadly she can not do that. Yes it's possible for her to remove the bulky parts of her armour but the actual suit itself she MUST remain wearing or the mechanical parts maintaining her organs, mechanical and natural, would shut down and she'd die almost instantly. It's the problem when your heart is a fully mechanical device that somehow manages to pump blood around.
Armor:
Xia-Yu's armour is equal parts infiltration armour and life support. It consists of two key parts. A collection of armoured plates she wears over her under suit and numerous mechanical arms equaling eight in total. These mechanical arms are what make her such a formidable opponent due to a few key things. For starters as she has eight more arms than a normal person she's able to list heavier loads; yes her strength in each arm is the same as a normal human but when you have eight of those same arms lifting that's four times the arms allowing her to displace weight over a greater area and lift heavier objects. Secondly in combat having eight arms, each able to hold weapons and be used as dexterously as her organic arms, grants you a much greater advantage especially when you have an A.I capable of fully controlling low-level functions as well as partially controlling high-level functions to ease mental fatigue upon Xia-Yu. Excluding being immune to small arms fire, having the ability to magnetise the mechanical hands and blades attached to the front two additional limbs her armoured suit parts aren't really that impressive. The truly powerful technology is housed within what she wears beneath it.
The "under suit" as Xia-Yu calls it is truly an impressive piece of technology. Not only is it capable of transmitting feeling to her synthetic skin and by extension her brain it also powers her mechanical organs and keeps her alive. The suit generates electricity through a few key things: Kinetic energy generated by movement, solar energy from sunlight and moonlight not to mention perhaps most impressively it manages to use the electrical energy inherent in brain waves to power a small electrical generator. This generator is the most advanced thing in her entire arsenal. Not only can it convert electrical impulses from the brain. thanks to the higher almost unnatural amount of brain waves Xia-Yu has thanks to her A.I and operating the additional limbs, but it manages to do this and still generate more electricity than it uses up. Yes the ability to connect the brain of a perfectly natural (once upon a time) human to mechanical components with zero loss in reaction time is what makes Xia-Yu a true marvel of human engineering. It should also be mentioned the suit is fully airtight with the option to engage an on board internal oxygen supply housed in the arms which can last for five hours at best. Not good for any long engagement in hostile air conditions but better than nothing and eys the suit does have standard issue communication equipment.
Personality:
Xia-Yu's personality is highly damaged and altered as you'd expect for someone who has suffered damage to 25% of their brain but it's not exactly a bad personality. Once upon a time she was a average, normal, perfectly ordinary girl with good grades. In fact there is still remnants of this personality sequestered away in her psyche as she often shows kindness to her A.I and people she mistakes for her family. See having suffered brain damage she often gets reality mixed up with her memories and suffers from phantom memory syndrome. A syndrome in which the afflicted often live through memories and feel as if they are actually there presently. The truly sad part is Xia-Yu is often aware of when she slips into her memories which makes it even more traumatic for her as numerous times she's seen her deceased relatives in the people she's been sent to assassinate. This has further caused mental trauma and so she's often very calculating about many things. After all having to shoot people who you fully believe to be your beloved family members can, and indeed has, caused her severe emotional trauma. This memory bleeding often causes her to completely and utterly replace, in terms of appearance, voice and scent, certain people she's talking to into family members and faces she's seen in the past which can cause some...unpredictable behaviour. There is an advantage to this condition though. Thanks to her frontal lobe being partly mechanical, which probably explains her lack of morality, allows her to recall and remember memories whenever she wants while also being able to remove and store copies of the brain waves associated with recalling that memory. This grants her literal lucid dreaming whenever she wants it.
Outside of suffering from Phantom Memory Syndrome (her fancy made up name for suffering highly vivid flashbacks regularly) she's actually quite an alright person. Polite, well adjusted, gentle and easy going not to mention very tolerable unless you're associated with the UNSC. She utterly hates the UNSC as she fully blames them for the numerous issues she has to live with nowadays. Anyone and everyone associated with the UNSC, no matter how miniscule or significant, are already on her "I'm going to murder you" list. The reason for this hate is due to the events that lead to her current...state of life. To make it simple if you work for the UNSC, if Xia-Yu knows it and if you two meet then you're going to have a very bad time. Despite the intense damage Xia-Yu has sustained to her brain and body she still has her natural organic digestive tract, tongue and sense of taste hence why she still retains her fondness for certain foods. Having grown up upon a very rural dairy farm there was always plenty of milk based produce around which is really the root of love for cheese. She often prefers cheeses that are smoother and more easily to spread with a "cooling" taste due to her love of crackers. It's a weird thing to be fervently in love with but for Xia-Yu it's the only real thing she's been able to prevese from her childhood. Her family are gone, her body is mostly gone, she has forgot her own name, her home is gone and she doesn't even have her memories unviolated anymore. It's because of this loss she's endured that anything, no matter how minor, she has managed to preserve from her past will be aggressively obsessively protected so as a friendly piece of advice try not to touch her stuff.
Morality is a concept with which Xia-Yu has a skewered relationship. For starters while yes once upon a time she had a fantastic moral code her experiences, not to mention the brain damage she sustained, have altered her morals vastly. So no longer differences between good or evil, so no longer feels disgusted or harmed by things such as murder and in fact there is nothing that morally sickens her any more. This total lack of a moral code makes her, while an overall "nice" person, nothing more than a person willing to do what is necessary. This is why she is often hired and indeed prefers to do the morally ambiguous missions as they pay incredibly well and nobody else wants to do them. I'm talking kidnapping children, torturing people, integration, murder and over equally vile acts however there is a line she can not bring herself to cross. If she were to ever get ordered, paid or asked to murder or otherwise harm a farming family she freezes up completely and can not bring herself to do it. The strange thing is Xia-Yu does not know why any more. She thinks it is related to her fragmented memories of living upon a farming community once in her life yet she does not know why that would matter to her so much; all she remembers about these years on a farm was the feeling of joy, love and being somewhere she felt perfectly safe. In fact she often relives these memories during her free time for the sole purpose of trying to remember why they are so important to them but sadly such a thing shall, and indeed always will, eluded her. The damage she's sustained physically may have been repaired but psychologically is another thing entirely.

History:
Xia-Yu, although that isn't her actual name, was born on a pretty backwards farm out in the far reaches of space. She does not remember her planet's name or the name of the farm she grew up on but it was most ignored due to the benefit of being little more than a collection of farms and one major city with a few towns dotted around in the middle of nowhere. Because of this and the planet's overall lack of tactical, military or strategic value they were pretty much ignored for many years. During these years the girl who would one day become known as Xia-Yu went to school, made friends, studied, had average grades and generally had a pretty ordinary school life as she was groomed to take over the family business a fate she rather liked the sound of due to being an animal lover at the time. And then everything changed. As she grew older the war between the Covenant, Insurgency and UNSC got worse and worse and eventually it came to her world. The Insurgency thought it'd be a good idea to raid the mostly undefended planet for the sole purpose of stealing food and other supplies to fuel their war. It was a good idea in theory but little did they know the people of this backwards planet were, while untrained, determined and armed.
Collectively the planet's battle capable citizens armed themselves and fought back the invaders but not without cost. While she was fighting to defend the planet she loved so much many of the habitable areas had been ruined beyond repair and Xia-yu's family ended up utterly eradicated along with the entirety of the farm leaving behind a blackened fire bombed wound upon the surface. Distraught beyond all relief Xia-Yu tore through the wreckage of her home searching for anything and anyone but all she found were the blackened bodies of her family and a necklace built around a piece of glass modeled after amber that was etched with the name of her elder sister. With this one last keep stake of her family in hand she swore revenge and marched out of that farm and right back to the city where she demanded to be allowed to join the UNSC for the sole purpose of satisfying her vengeance. Even had the UNSC relief forces refused to accept her, not that they had any say in the matter, they were still charged with getting Xia-Yu and the other survivors off that planet and back to Earth. Upon Earth she jumped through all the hoops in order to become a UNSC recruit and she excelled at it perhaps due to the experiences of defending her home, perhaps due to mere natural aptitude or perhaps motivated by the flames of vengeance.
She she went through basic training it soon became clear that Xia-Yu, in addition to natural aptitude, displayed a talent for unconventional strategic planning which often lead her team to victory in many live fire combat exercises. Her training gave her a very good start into a military career yet during the end of her training period when it came to environmental training, that is training to survive in different environments on earth, that she was separated from her group during a sandstorm in one of Earth's deserts. Two days she managed to survive by herself in that desert and as a result Xia-Yu was given specialized training in solo operations due to the sole fact that, while during live fire exercises, she often purposely detached from her unit to carry out solo operations which more often than not resulted in completion of the objective. Her training period was extended by two years and during that time she learned everything she could about wetwork, infiltration, sabotage, kidnapping, interrogation techniques; everything she needed to perform her assigned career role perfectly. Unsurprisingly all this special training she received did indeed create a highly skilled soldier who was often called upon to support aggressive operations against Insurgency forces by sabotaging equipment, discovering plans, callsigns, codename, assassinating key target and securing objectives while awaiting further reinforcements. The zeal and pure malice she displayed in these missions often unnerved people and command was concerned for her mental state so she was taken out of active duty for a span of six months to undergo counselling.
Obviously it was determined that her need for revenge was little more than a motivator and rarely negatively impacted her performance or mission so she was returned to active duty but the mission in which she was assigned changed everything. Her mission was very simple really. Infiltrate an insurgency base suspected of researching and attempting to reverse engineer MJONLR armour and take down anti-air defences. While it did indeed sound nigh impossible for the Insurgency to perform such a feat as difficult as reverse engineering MJONLR armour UNSC command still wished to crush any efforts at such a thing as MJONLR armour was a Spartan's best piece of equipment. As commanded Xia-Yu infiltrated the base mostly undetected, apart from having to neutralize a few sentries here and there, and successfully neutralized the anti-air equipment. Of course what command hadn't told her was there would be no extraction, no escape and no way out. Unfortunately as a result of command cutting her loose, in order to preserve secrecy about this mission, Xia-Yu was at the dead center of a fire bombing run carried out upon the facility. As the bombs descended and engulfed the facility in flame Xia-Yu burned and screamed losing consciousness rather rapidly. It was while she was unconsciousness that members of the base's insurgency science team, whom had been protected from the fire bombing thanks to their laboratory's hardened defences, discovered the half-dead and comatose body of Xia-Yu.
The science team decided that, in face of this assault by UNSC forces, they would step up the development of their project and move onto the stage of using actual test subjects and who better to use than the half-dead soldier of their enemy forces? For hours after that Xia-Yu was kept alive by external hearts and breathing devices as the surgeons and scientific staff worked on rebuilding damaged parts of her body and replacing those that they deemed necessary to replace. When Xia-Yu awoke she did so in a purely white room unable to differentiate between colour spectrums as her eyes had been uncalibrated yet and so for a moment she thought she was in heaven or the afterlife. However due to the arrival of a member of the team that had rebuilt her she soon learned what had happened and while yes she did detest the Insurgency for what they did to her family the people of this facility had A.Nothing to do with that B.Hadn't dropped fire bombs on her head and C.Saved her life. For those three reasons she swallowed her hatred, her infectious need for revenge and listened to what the insurgency had to say. Given very little choice in the matter she opted to work with them in finishing her new body, teaching her how to use it, getting her used to the new features as well as acclimatizing her to the presence of the A.I lodged firmly in her brain. Once that was all and done Xia-Yu was...well she was left without a cause in life. She wouldn't even have a name, were it not for the engraved necklace the Insurgency had found on her, and as such she merely stuck with what she knew: being a soldier. Since then Xia-Yu has taken on numerous mercenary contracts for those with the money to pay her however members of the Insurgency who saved her, whom she happens to live with, often receive special rates. However despite her lack of a goal there is one thing she's still hung onto: revenge.
